D'Physics unchained

One additional event that happened at the New Directions conference was a video presentation and panel discussion about physics outreach. Brendan Foster from FQXi  led this event and he projected the winner clip of FQXi's first video contest

The author was Dagomir Kaszlikowski who had a conference talk as well and who thrilled the audience with his love for Quentin Tarantino style of movies. To understand why, watch his video:

The physics is serious and the plot was concocted to present the Elitzur-Vaidman bomb tester. However I am not sure that Tarantino's style is really appropriate to attract a new generation to do physics.

My personal favorite from FQXi video contest was Bohemian Gravity:

which I thought was in a class of its own in terms of artistic creativity and quality.

In terms of outreach I think nothing compares with Sagan's Cosmos

and the music still gives me goosebumps:

Another personal favorite are the Feynman lectures on physics which are now available online.

There is no cookbook on how to do outreach and we should spread back the love of physics in any way we can. Happy blogging and outreaching.
